I am Dr. Kala, and I have had the privilege of serving fokana in various leadership capacities over the past several decades. My journey with fokana has included roles such as Secretary, Women’s Leader, Chairperson, and more—working alongside many dynamic and visionary leaders who have shaped the organization into a powerful platform for cultural unity and community service. Currently, I am honored to serve as the International Coordinator for fokana, focusing on building strong relationships across global Malayalee communities and partnering organizations.
As the International Coordinator with fokana, my vision is to foster global understanding, compassion, and collaboration by creating meaningful connections beyond national borders. Guided by fokana’s enduring mission and core values, this role is committed to advancing peace, humanitarian service, and sustainable development. We aim to bring together diverse cultures and communities through inclusive initiatives that uplift and empower underserved populations. A central part of this role is strengthening relationships with our international chapters, encouraging cultural exchange, and aligning with global partners to promote service, integrity, and fellowship.
In my role, I oversee a variety of charitable programs that reflect fokana’s deep commitment to social responsibility. These include healthcare outreach initiatives such as free medical camps and health awareness drives; education-focused efforts like literacy programs, student scholarships, and mentorship; and community upliftment activities including clean water projects, disaster relief efforts, and youth empowerment campaigns. Each of these initiatives is designed to meet real needs on the ground, transforming lives and communities through the power of collective service.
fokana is also expanding its global footprint by welcoming new organizations and community groups to partner with us. We invite Indian diaspora associations, cultural and service-based organizations from around the world to consider forming joint ventures and collaborative efforts with fokana. Together, we can amplify our impact, preserve our heritage, and empower our communities across the globe.
